For Adam

We leap through the sprinklers
Shouting
Laughing
All of a sudden,
You are leaving
I wonder why?

Mom signals him to the corner.
The place we go when we are bad.
Adam must’ve been
Naughty!

I stop splashing.

It is rude of him to leave.


I want to keep on playing.



So...

I’ll come!

Together we wait out
T h o s e f i v e m i n u t e s,
Surprisingly fast when you have
Someone to share it with.
