We spent the night in the car
Fighting the sleep
And everything that came with it
Begging time to stop
To keep us here
To keep us in love
With the world
And each other
Counting down the seconds
Until we were strangers
Holding on
Tight
Never looking down
For fear
The Fear
Would take us
Away
Away from where we were
Away where we wanted to be
And as our faces slowly blurred
We inhaled the summer air
One last time
Hoping
That as long as we didn’t breathe out
We could stay
Alive
In love
Wide-eyed
Young
