My Monster
I sit there, stone like.
Unable to move.
A force stirs inside of me,
a monster,
my monster.
Its eyes blare,
burning through the barriers I so carefully placed.
Its pointed teeth smile,
as it knows my hold is weakening.
It claws at my brain,
my heart.
Its muscles, red hot,
constrict under my skin.
I cringe as it begins to mold itself around me.
My hands clench.
My eyes shut.
I throw myself onto the cold earth.
I am still.
My shaking subsides.
I rise, like a phoenix from the ashes.
I walk like a God,
glaring into the hearts and souls of whomever I see.
My irises,
red.
