Over Him
Along the Moonlit night,
I see the shimmering tides.
That beautiful reflection.
Why did I come back to this spot?
Sand soft as silk,
Water swaying calmly.
Maybe I needed peace.
Maybe, I needed the comfort.
This is my only safe haven.
Away from His blood shot eyes-
the wild look in them.
His sharp toned voice,
strung out words.
He thought the needle wouldn’t hurt;
the drug wouldn’t kill.
He lied.
It ended with no goodbye kiss.
Not one- “I Love you”.
Just his poison and him.
As the waves break,
I remind myself . . . I’m over him.
