War is the ocean
Sometimes receding
Yet other times surging forth

Fish are the soldiers
Pulled by the tide
The current controlling their lives

Attacks are the waves
Sudden and powerful
Holding the beaches hostage

War is the ocean
Sometimes quiet and smooth
Yet other times full of storms

Bombings are the hurricanes
Destroying everything in their paths
Lives lost every second

Retreats are the eye of the storm
The calm before the next hit
Never lasting long enough to make a difference

War is the ocean
Always a game of conflicting tides, currents, waves, hurricanes and storms
Yet never seizing to hope for the water to be smooth again

I was inspired to write this piece by the effects war has everything in life.
