Wounds
They say that time heals all wounds,
I am 200 years old, yet still I hurt.

My scars have grown back tissue,
But they do not go away.

 The ache has subsided,
It has been replaced by throbbing.

 The bleeding has stopped,
 Though it continues to clot.

 My bumps are not swollen,
 Instead they are bruised.

 My bones are not broken,
 Instead they are cracked.

Deep wounds do not heal, instead they remind me
 Who I am.
 For who would I be,
If I could not feel the pain?
