"If you can't say anything nice....don't say it at all"

It seems like
I've been here before
This spot
This grave
And I keep wondering why
Why did things go so wrong
When I thought
They were so right
And you were right here
Next to me
Talking to me
Smiling with me
What ended that
What put a stop
To the happiness
And why is it
That I can't see you anymore
Not here
Not now
Where did you go
And then I remember
I remember the loss
The crying
The pain
I remember the paleness
The stillness
Of you laying there
Next to me
They told me you left
But I didn't believe
Didn't want to believe
Because just moments before
You were here
Next to me

The author's comments:
This poem was inspired by my grandma. When she died, we all went up to the hospital to say our last good-byes. She was very white and pale. It saddened us all to see her that way...and none of us really wanted to believe that she was truly gone.
