I Live by Poems MAG

By Audree Steinberg, Los Angeles, CA

I live by poems
lined with pungent verbs
and enriched with vigorous nouns
collaborating and
singing together to concoct a symphony
each stanza simply a measure
a metaphor a chord
each word a note but
the might of some words
leave an impact on readers
and ring for longer forming
an echo

I live by stories
created with sizzling thoughts
and bubbling queries
woven together by the rays of the sun
the glisten of the moon
and the shimmer of the stars
the words are an intricate dance
flowing like a stream
every sentence is avidly choreographed
designed to present diverse movements
yet all are bound together
moving as one

Denied
Refused
Rejected
Declined
The writing still broils within my soul
Each time repudiated
The longing soon returns
And the temptation simmers within my conscious

"Sometimes your nearness takes my breath away; and all the things I want to say can find no voice. Then, in silence, I can only hope my eyes will speak my heart."

~Robert Sexton~

Love it! If you take the time to read the poem (out loud especially) the imagery you use really shines through. Your verb choice is beautiful- your poem has been given another dimension with which it exists...

I almost feel as if I'd love a symphony to accompany this poem... then again, "pungent verbs" sort of makes me want to start adding every kind of human sense (which obviously defeats the point of literature).

Anyways, great job! Keep on writing!
