Marching Band

Music is golden
like the brass on a trombone,
the sound of a French horn,
or the color of the tympani
Music is silver
like the shininess of a flute

Music is gigantic
like the sound of a tuba,
marimba, or clarinet
Music is petit
like the squeak of a piccolo

Music is noisy
like the hit of a bass drum,
a fortissimo, or a note that’s
perfectly in tune
Music is silence
like a measure of rest
