Adrenaline
Bummer.
“Sorry girl, your not tall enough
to ride this coaster.”
Moping around,
my sights set on something else.
Tall, fast, speedy, and a huge splash,
The Log Flume.
Side by side,
my dad and I
wait in line for what seems like an hour.
We hop into a log together and
it starts to climb the long journey up.
Crickety crickety crick,
the log climbs higher and higher.
The butterflies bounce wildly
in my stomach.
As the log starts to turn
to reveal the long decent down,
I take a deep breath in--
and out.
In, out, in, out,
My stomach turning so much,
but I love the feeling.
In, out, in, out,
Creeping closer to the drop.
In, out, in--
The log flies down
at the speed of light.
I grab hold of my dad’s arm like
a death grip.
Screaming like a murder happened,
I see the splash straightaway coming
nearer and nearer.
Artificial trees fly past,
my stomach feels like it’s going
to come out of my mouth,
just as I think I can’t take another second--
SPLASH!!
Water rushes over me.
The log slows to a halt.
Butterflies still bouncing.
My first time on The Log Flume.
