I Am A Fish

I feel as if
I am a fish
carried by a river
weaving in
weaving out
of boulders
of rocky banks
calmly going along
with the flow
with the pull
with the river
but this river
is my prison
i am caught in
this undertow
without choice
i am there
forced, following
on the shore are
flowers that i
never get to see
for once i would like
to hit
the rocks
just to know how it feels
yet,
i am always
whisked away
this river is protecting
this river means well
but because of this river
i know not of anything else
i feel as if
i am a fish
trapped by a river
