so what is man that he controls the world

with mere two hands he counts the passersby

but cannot number those who matter most?

these sounds will drown like bombs, our lullaby

by these lies we identify

anticipation: the first step, the worst

to the answer, to the score, more to try

to a better next time, a paradigm

to be of worth, to truly satisfy

by these lies we divide

how much more do you have than the guy next door

in essence nothing, just see eye to eye

he lives and he smiles, you work all the while

two weeks later, in a world simplified

victims of our own creation, our loan

that measures rule us; we are terrified

so what is man that he controls the world?

are we not the truths that underlie

plus minus then divide and multiply

minutes pounds hours dollars justify

why.
