By , lake forest, IL
i want you to know that
every time you say her name i
hit the wall and shatter my bones and break with the force of a million miles

i am going to let you know now that I’ll climb to the top of the world to the bridge and
let loose a thousand october leaves
and hope you never see me burying them

you don’t know but i’ve
made that climb a hundred times before so
my footprints are still there and the
soles of my shoes are caked in dirt

maybe if I jumped off that bridge in
time to feel the shock of cold air
closing my eyelids and slicing my hair do
you think you’d feel it
