I missed a period
Actually more than one
My father was furious,
my mother distraught.
Though it saddened me most to see
my English teacher so disappointed –
she had seen such potential in me.
Friends offered their condolences
for my situation.
All this because of one mistake;
A momentary lapse would dictate
The rest of the year…
I had failed the grammar test. Period.
