Colors Colors
Everything about my life, I thought,
Was various shades of gray at best.
But that was before
My step-father's anger shined red through his eyes,
And my consequences made my
Face black and blue,
Maybe purple sometimes.
I'd cry blue oceans, and
Even that didn't repent his
Black sin
I'd do anything to make him feel that color
The same red I did
Every time I felt my pale face get cold
But that won't change how
He thought his deeds were
As sinless as white.
