Insomnia
Thoughts keep me up
throughout the night
fluttering through my brain
like a bird in flight
they keep me restless,
away from the kingdom of morpheus
My thoughts consume me
eating me whole
leaving me fatigued, my eyes red,
my body to toss, and my mind to dole
Time goes by
tick tock tick tock
the hours pass,
from 1 to 5 o'clock
the thoughts just keep coming
louder and louder they grow
like bees in a garden,
they don't seem to slow
I'm so tired
but can't seem to find the switch
to turn these thoughts off
and put an end to my body's twitch
My mind is a prison,
my expectations the shackles
even after the sun has risen
my soul shall remain mangled
