I am betwixt adulthood and childhood
and yet she still feeds me in her womb.
I flex my anxious legs as they begin their voyage,
She reaches for me, tries to hold me in her arms
but my wings spread wide and flutter away.

Pride and loneliness roll down her cheeks,
I turn and wipe them away, as I beguiled her,
I leave the house;
as whispers of affection escape her dreams,
she will never understand; I am now a man.

I will travel any distance to gain my independence,
My feet blister and my muscles scream
yet I will not pause nor stop in my journey to independence.

I leave but know she is broken,
She searches for me in pieces,
She will find my limbs, but never my state of mind.
she will create me, and yet I will never be hers,
she will love me yet never know me.

Do not be discouraged as my love for you is still real,
I am a young man searching full of apprehensions,
You are also searching full of apprehensions,
Yet don’t be discouraged as my love for you is still real,
my voyage ends, at your door, I ask for patience as it has not even yet begun.

I was inspired to write this peice shortly after my eldest brother left for university. The main inpiration came from when I spoke to my mum and she told me that she was scared for my brother but it was time to let him live.
This was one of the first peices I have ever written so its pretty rough, but I hope you enjoy it :)
