What You'll Never Find Out

In life, there’s things you’ll never find out
I never found out the reason why
You sat there and grinned
As you watched your little girl cry
Hey Daddy,
I’ll never understand why
Every time you said you’d change
You lied
Now that I’m older
And that I’m not Daddy’s little girl
I don’t care what happens now
I’m no longer part of your world
If you want to say sorry
Well, I asked you to say that when I was eight
And if you now realize your faults
Your five years too late
Oh, in life there’s things you should know
Quit calling me favorite
If you want my love
How come you hated it?
Oh, those days I tried so hard
To win your affection
When all I got
Was this incurable infection
Where the daughter cries
And the father denies
He never did anything wrong
Never caused pain
I’m used to that excuse
And it’s really lame
But if you want to say sorry
Even though you’re five years too late
You better think of something sincere
Because in five years I graduate
Oh, these days you try so hard
To win my affection
But calling me stupid
Isn’t heading you in the right direction
Oh, there’s things in life you’ll never find out
But since you won’t tell me anything
I’ll tell you something I know without a doubt
Remember your daughter, yes
That little girl going into third grade
How she was so confused and scared?
Now, she’s no longer afraid.
