Being with you-

your eyes,

your laugh,

your smile,
was too hot to handle

then one day, when you kissed me I knew,
not what you mean to me, but what I want to mean to you

And now, without you,
I'm never warm.

The author's comments:
My then-boyfriend would radiate heat so much that even when it was freexing out, I'd be okay when I sat by him. When it was hot, being with him intensified it. Eventually, my body adjusted, and it got so without him, I was always cold. It didn't matter how heavy my sweatshirt was or how many blankets I had...my blood was cold. I needed him: his warmth and the way that being with him made me feel. Five days after I wrote this, we broke up after barely six months. Soon it will be a month since our breakup, and I still wear sweatshirts when it's 80 degrees.
