Gutter
Poor gutter, sitting lonely at the edge of the roof.
You’re so small, so thin, so narrow.
You hang there against your will,
Filling with the sky’s discharge.
Such a small thing with such a big job.
Days like these make me wonder
How do you do it?
How do you stay calm when given all you can take
But the sky holds no mercy for you.
You’re over taken,
The rain is falling faster than you can catch it;
It’s spilling over.
Your job is to keep the house dry,
But today is not your fault.
You are not to be blamed
Because you were given more than you can handle.
So how do you do it?
How do stay calm and let these things happen,
Letting the world use you only when convenient?
