You knew I was committed.
You knew I was in love.
But you still came around,
And jerked my heart about.
You told me you missed me,
Missed my smile and my hugs.
You acted like I meant something.
You said I was worthwhile.
Yet you never claimed me.
I always wondered why.
If I were so precious,
Why were you never mine?
You told me you “couldn’t”
You just had your heart broke.
You left me feeling stupid,
Empty, and utterly alone.
Now you don’t spare me a passing glance,
Not even one of your cute little waves.
You pass right by,
Never looking in my direction.
Am I just a ghost?
Am I really that alone?
I listen to my phone ring,
My hearts pounding.
It’s the boy, who loves me,
Who knows me.
The boy who really cares.
No, Not you.
I’d never feel this way for you.
Not in a million years.
Only him.
I answer and hear his sweet, calming voice say,
“Hey baby, I’ve missed you, I’ve been thinking of you all day.”
And I can only utter,
A few simple words.
“Sweetheart, I love you, you are my universe!”
