Blend
Walk into this crowded room,
conversations, glares, but it’s nothing new.
Surrounded by fifty people,
but all I have is you.
If we are a family,
then I must have been removed.
I am outspoken and outnumbered,
I didn’t even get to choose.
So I blend,
it’s what I am known to do,
Blend til you can’t even see me,
blend so you can walk right through.
Because that’s right, I am shy,
so I must not feel.
I must be too afraid to show emotion,
I must be too hidden to be real.
Silly me, I thought I was a human being,
I thought I was guaranteed a bit of decency.
Not thrown to the savages to take control over me,
not viewing for the blind a world I cannot even see.
