The Boxes in my Closet

There's a dark.
Secret place.
Deep down.
Inside of me.
I hide there.
Sometimes.
When I wish that I.
Was not alive.
It's frightens me.
It really does.
It's where I keep.
My box of anger.
My box of grief.
My box of hate.
My box of fear.
Along with my.
Empty boxes.
There's a box.
Without.
Self esteem.
There's a box.
Without.
Love.
There's a box.
Without.
Hope.
There's a box.
Without.
Beauty.
All the boxes.
Are lined up.
Alphabetically.
On shelves.
In a closet.
With a door.
That will not close.
I try not.
To go down.
To that place.
Very often.
Because I always.
See the boxes.
Please do not.
Ask to see.
All of my boxes.
I do not.
Want to see them.
Any more.
Than I have to.
Because they scare me.
But.
I have another.
Set of boxes.
In another.
Part of me.
The part of me.
That I would like.
To visit.
All of the time.
But right now.
The only door.
To that place.
Is shut and locked.
So I have.
To hide away.
In the other.
Place.
With all of the.
Horrible.
Boxes.

So when I stumbled upon Teen Ink's website i was in search of inspiration for an art project.  I found this poem.  I just recently made an account and I would like to thank you for this amazing poem.  It was a huge inspiration for my graphic arts project.  The poem is incredible and I hope that you keep writing because this is one of the best poems I've ever read. Extremely captivating. Thank you for that!

this almost has a stacatto, patched together vibe about it which gives the reader the ability to interpret in so many different ways.... everyone has a dark place, but finding the key to the light takes a harder search... the dark is always the easiest to find... read some of mine?

This is really well written, and I can totally feel the pain and sadness and feeling you put into this poem. I really like it.
