You say I don’t listen
You say I don’t care
But I guess I just take advantage
Because I know you’ll always be there

You’re who I see when I first awake
And the last face I see before I sleep
I even love seeing you in between
And this is a schedule I’m gonna keep

I want to tell you something
Something I have a hard time to express
So I’m writing this poem now
And I will do my very best

To tell you that I do listen
To let you know I care
Because I know you love me, Dad
And you should know it’s a love we share

So, maybe I can be better
And show my love in better ways
But I’m the daughter you’re stuck with
And will be stuck with till your last days

My dad was upset with me one night because he thought I didn't take what he said to heart. To make it up to him, I wrote this poem and left it on the kitchen table for him to see when he first woke up to show that I really do listen and care.
