You ask me why I run, I say I do not know,
A little bit for exercise, a little bit for fun.
What do you like about it? I think of my reply...
I know I know the truth, but wonder if I should deny.
To hear your feet pound the pavement at a quick and steady rate,
your throat fills with air, measure the breaths you take.
The pain that fills your lungs and shoots into your thighs
is a good kind of pain because it means that you're alive.
