In The Spider's Web
It’s done now.
He can’t go back.
That fly is in the spider’s web
And his chances of escape aren’t looking so well.
I watch as he wriggles and trembles,
Every appendage gripped in the tightly wound web.
The fly settles and I see the spider begin to scamper down
But her movements send the fly back into a frantic state.
The commotion sent the spider to retreat.
The fly was resilient.
He was a fighter. I wanted to tell him
That he should have just given up,
It would have been easier that way.
There was no use in fighting.
He was stuck there to wait
Until his imprisoner would come from behind and devour him.
It was simply a waiting game now.
