The phone call
Something serious
An accident
I left early,
Instantly, I knew
I play the scene, as written, in my mind
Swerve
One flip, two flip, three flip
No restraint, the error
Glass explodes
She flies, falls, breaks
Please don’t leave me
Whispers fade to panting
Then, blackness
The revelation:
One second, one lapse, one fall
Life is forever altered
