Words echoing inside my head
Maybe it’s words that you have said
Voices repeating over again
But this is now and that was then
Comments, so little, rattling inside
You say ignore it, I’ll say I’ve tried
I turn my head and walk away
Or I’ll sit, let my mind stray
I try and I try to hold my tongue
Enflaming my heart, bursting a lung
Ignore the words, voices and smirks
But let me tell you, nothing works!
Sticks and stones will break a bone
But words are heavier than rocks thrown
They leave scars, a deep impression
I wish people could have discretion
Words keep echoing inside my head
Every word that’s ever been said

The author's comments:
Eh, people just don't know how to keep their mouths shut and how much of an impact each word can have. It annoys me but I try and ignore it. Hence the poem.
