eternal love

By , Moriarty, NM
Can love ever be eternal?
Does it fade away with time?
The end always seems so painful.
The feelings escape through tears and a rhyme.

Does anyone stay together anymore?
Can anyone stay the same?
I’ve seen too many people walk out the door.
We all are so sad we just alter the blame.

Can humans be incapable of love?
Does love not exist?
We don’t feel without another’s shove.
We kill these feelings heartlessly like an exorcist.

Does love always fall apart?
Can people work through the hurt?
I don’t believe anymore that it ever starts.
Everyone just gets treated like dirt.

Can marriage live and go to heaven?
Does ‘I Love You’ ever really count?
It’s more of just a rare unlucky seven.
We use this word just to astound.

Can love ever be eternal?
Does it fade away with time?
The end always seems so painful.
The feelings escape through tears and this rhyme.
