Dear Mom
It hurts to see you SMOKE
to know that you're one step closer to Hell with every drag
It hurts to see you DRINK
the pungeant odor and the senseless actions that come with it
It hurts when you don't PAY ATTENTION
when I tell you great things and you shrug them off
It hurts to see OTHER MOTHERS
that cookie cutter image you'll never fit into
It hurts when you FORGET ME
buying beer and cigarettes before food for me
or forgetting all the wonderful things I tell you, but always managing to remember what I've done wrong
It hurts to write this poem
But it hurts worse to know that you'll never see it
