Modern era, cage of wires and light,
Leaves no aspect of life untouched.
Humanity, willingly bound to it,
Feeds and serves its own
Technological creation:

Leaves in its wake a bountiful blight,
Filling our human lives with such
Ease, knowledge – yet forms a pool, dimly lit,
Into which we drown;

Sets our creativity alight,
But becomes our freshly carved crutch,
An addiction that we willingly fit.

Like a beautiful beast eager to bite
Us, it is a drug to the touch,

Creator of our enlightened night.
