“Happiness is like a butterfly: the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder…”– Thoreau

When my emotions,
Spiral out of control,
Like a tornado,
Raging through my mind.
You are my calm after the storm.

When my life is falling apart,
Each and every brick falling down,
Surrounding me in rubble,
You are my unbreakable foundation.

When my worries are rising,
Making me sink,
Deeper and deeper,
Into the rising water of despair,
You are my life vest.

When my stress is burning,
Engulfing me in flames,
Threatening to turn everything,
Into destruction and ash,
You are my dousing water.

When clouds of hatred form,
And begin pelting me,
With small droplets of pain,
You are my umbrella.

When tragedy takes aim,
And shoots at me,
A deadly bullet of anguish,
You are my shield.

You keep me alive,
You keep me strong.
You preserve my health,
You preserve my sanity.

You are my everything.

This was a poem written to show that there are some people who are just there for you through absolutely anything. No matter what life chooses to throw at you, those people will always be there.
