Brian’s Comet
Once upon a shooting star
All your problems shall disappear
Whether gone from Earth or near
You won’t be very far
Like the pain of a loved one aching
Or the cries of a caged bird
The most wounding sound I have ever heard
Was the sound of your heart breaking
So from now on when I see a star, shooting across the sky
When it flashes across the horizon, I will say,
“What a brave thing to do, a price you didn’t have to pay.”
Then my pretenses will fade away and I will finally cry.
Then I might learn of half of the pain the heart feels when one dies.
