Children Change

July 11, 2010
little girls
little boys
telling their stories to the world
through paper,
through works of art
we find out
what they know,
blue is for the sky
birthday parties are for eating
playgrounds are for climbing
home is for sleeping safely
pictures are for coloring
but years pass
what they know has changed,
blue is for police
any party is for drinking
playgrounds are immature
home is rent free
pictures are of others

Wait, do you really live in France? Cool! What's it like there? No details about your house or anything, I'm not a stalker, but what is the country like? That is so cool!

At first I thought this poem is a little simple and not very well constructed...then I read more and I love how you showed the way your viewpoint changes as you grow up! Especially the "blue" thing, and parties are for eating. So true for little kids. Still true for me, unfortunately. Excellent poem!
