There they sit.
Like human books.
Old, dusty, and forgotten.
There they wait to tell their stories.
They want no more than we want.
Someone to listen, someone to care;
Just someone to let them know that they're
not forgotten.
Someone to share their stories with.
The nursing home their library,
There they sit.

This is wonderful and sad, no wonder it got published. Such a short poem, and you convery such an idea. I really liked the simile with the books.

Can you look at some of my work, rate, and comment, please (esp. the poems, as I am quite new to poetry)
