"Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known."

Its a beautiful day
why shouldn't it be
why shouldn't every rainbow shine off of every drop of dew
why shouldn't every snail lull in the warmth of the sun
why shouldn't every miniscule bee buzz humming around the tall yellow flowers
why shouldn't every cloud glow through the sun with a milky brightness
I hold every late fall butterfly in the palm of my hand

I wrote this in a New England field. It was a beautiful day. Everything was so perfect and free, and the field was covered in yellow flowers. No Joke. It was very picturesque. This might not be my best pome, and its pretty simple, but I love the memory.
