Why Do We Bleed?

Is it really such a necessity
Or are we just addicts of the pain?
Our skin between life and death with the flames
As our stomachs churn for what we can never have

Give me your beautiful hair to run my fingers through
Give me your muddy brown eyes to drown in
Give me your soft lips to rid me of my sins
Give me something to help me stay clean

We try to sleep to hide from it all
But the nightmares sink in their fangs
Screaming how this poison will never drain
It will swim through our veins until it is bled out

Give me your velvet voice to calm me down
Give me your strong fingers to break the blades
Give me your sturdy legs to not run away
Give me something to keep me happy

Just answer me one question
Why do we bleed to stay in control?
Why is it wrong to have the blood flow?
And why is relapse such cadence?

life had i loved the more
had it but passed away
as quietly as the day
