Nothing
The doors open
And she walks in
No smile on her face
No laughter in the air
There is only the wind
Only the sun
Only the sky
She doesn’t speak
She has no thoughts
She is empty
And there are only the trees
Only the birds
Only the sky
She doesn’t see
She doesn’t hear
She cannot listen
And there are only the houses
Only the people
Only the sky
Perhaps she moves
But none can say
Because no one can see
They see only the visible
Only the possible
Only the sky
She is not a she
Not a he
But a thing
Not everything
But only the space
Only the emptiness
Only the sky
Some know her well
She haunts them
Others have never felt
Her eerie presence
They have felt only the happy
Only the joy
Only the sky
She is there
But not there
She is many
But few
She is nothing
And she is only the fear
Only the sorrow
Only the future
She fills cracks
And she fills lives
They say to you
“You are nothing”
“You are worthless”
But you cannot be nothing
You are not nothing
You are not worthless
You are not unwanted
You are the possibilities
You are the dreams
You are life
Nothing yearns for this
But she can never have it
Because nothing is nothing
And always will be
