In Love and War
I can hear your footsteps
rolling from over the hills.
Drum beats pound two by two
and there sounds a single trumpet blow.
You march
And you march.
I can see you now.
I can see your face.
I smile.
"Please, my soldier, can you play me a tune?"
Your face is
cold
Your eyes
stare ahead.
You march
And you march.
'Till the dawn drowns your melody
Away with the morning wind.
