Breaking Out of My Shell

I'm trapped inside a shell
I'm wondering when I'm gonna break out
Will anyone ever see my inner beauty?
Am I going to stay here forever?
These are questions I ask myself everyday

I close my eyes and dream about the day
I will be free
Free to sing like a bird
Free to dance like the wind
To travel the world until I find my heart

Will I be judged?
What will others see?
Would I ever get to be the real me?
These are undiscovered mysteries
The shell is cracking...

The thing that inspired me was another poem called "For Poets,"
by Al Young. I hope that once people read this poem, it will inspire them to be themselves and "break from their shell."
