Florida In April
The sun was a gaurdian in the sky
Eyeing every move that was made.
Excitement trickled down my spine
As I stood near the palm trees.
These trees were skinnier than most.
They were tree skeletons.
The large blades of grass on every branch
could cover over the sun like the wings of an eagle.
One afternoon, I toured a path unlike others.
On a day, scorching like a pheonix,
I viewed alligators for the first time.
They looked unreal to me.
I could not believe as I gazed at their eyes
And sinister smiles.
As I went onward with disturbance,
I viewed also for the first time,
Permanently crippled animals.
Over the steel fence, a duck
Struggles to move forward with
just one wing.
A flamingo must keep his
Balance with just one leg.
Creatures were with puzzles incomplete.
