Our Beautiful Nothing
Darling,
You hold the sun in your hands,
Warm and sputtering like the poisonous words perched on my tongue,
Clawing their way out of my throat,
That I somehow manage to swallow for you,
Just you.
But baby,
The darkness inside me is leaking out
Like an overfull balloon
Slowly infecting
E V E R Y T H I N G
And you have light fizzing through your veins
Like an Angel’s marijuana high
And when you smile
I
M E L T.
And I remember sitting under the night stars,
Where none of my sadness
Or poetry
Could wrap around my vulnerable heart.
And thinking maybe in this moment
You
And
I
And me and you
Could
E S C A P E
From all of this.
To our beautiful nothing.
And I whispered
Run,
Run,
Run,
Run,
We might escape it yet.
