The Secret

I was told a secret yesterday.
The reason my father married her.
Years ago she had a baby inside her.
My brother or my sister- I’ll never know,
Because she lost the baby.
And I wish I had been told a long time ago
Because now I must mourn for my lost brother or sister all alone.
In secret.

My dad never told me about my stepmom's miscarriage and now I must mourn for a brother or sister I am not even supposed to know about.
