The aroma of small, blossoming berries as
Wind brings the scent to my nose
Birds chirp happily, in the bush
in the morning sun
Thorns erect cries of pain from the fervent pickers
The delectable taste of the ripe berries
Black and juicy in the jeweled dawn

The author's comments:
There is nothing like getting up before the sun to pick black berries- except sleeping in!
