When I dream
I’m only happy when I dream
Because it’s the only time I ever see you these days
Most nights it’s always the same
Your bright, warm, golden glow fixes everything
I put my ear to the back of your chest and listen to your heartbeat
And then I don’t have to worry about anything else anymore
But it isn’t fair
Your dreams are always cut short
I always wake up out of dead sleep anywhere between one & three in the morning
I wake up sad because you’re not there in my arms anymore
I sigh, look at your photo and mutter the words “I miss you”
Before I drift back to sleep hoping I’ll see you again
