Live the Life you Love and Love the Life you Live

I sit in a classroom
Or at home in a chair
anywhere
My eyes close
my heart opens
and I think
of him

I imagine him
I wish for him
but he never comes
yet I still wait.

Freckled skin
light brown hair
but when I open my eyes
nothing is there
so I wait
and I wish

and I wonder if
one day
I will stop waiting
and control my own fate.

The author's comments:
This poem was inspired by the feeling of being helpless. Sometimes you want something so much yet you cannot bring yourself to do something to change your situation. It's a choice you have to make, and people will encourage you to do something, instead of "waiting". However, it is not in any way easy. Some things you are obligated to change, but other, more personal issues, are your decision.
