I wipe away a tear
Try to cure my heart of fear
Finger tips brushing slightly
As you walked away from me
You turned your back
But I turned you around
And threw myself into your arms
Because it hurts to say goodbye
And I’m trying so hard not to cry
Running behind your car
But you’re too far
I hold out my hand
And my fingers shake
I wish you were here
So my hand you would take
The light is shining down on me
And I wish you could see
You’d tell me that I look so pretty
Then you’d turn to leave
Letting me believe
But it would all be a lie
And you’re just too afraid of goodbye

This is a poem about my Grandfather who is struggling with cancer. I love him with my whole heart, and I'm afraid he's going to slip away some day.
