We're listening to different songs
Humming different tunes
Tapping different beats
We used to be so in sync
Same time, same rhythm,
Where'd that go?
I miss those times
Now it's two totally different songs,
Two totally different beats
Where'd that other song go?
We don't even have to go back that far
I could change my tune a little,
I could go a little faster, a little slower
I could tap a slightly different beat
And if you could hear that, and change a little too,
Maybe we could hear that harmony again
Let the melody soar above the world
For everyone to hear

I wrote this after my dad and I got into huge fight. We hadn't talked much for a few months, and what little talking we did was more fighing. It was my way of trying to get him to see things from my perspective.
