Conversations are secrets
Dangerous
Could cut you like a knife
They hide the true meaning of what something really is
Reality

Face expressions show emotion
Emotion shows life
Life could be fake
A total lie?
We believe what we see

So what do we see?
Do we see truth?
Do we see the sparkle in somebody's eyes
Or the burning that lies beneath them

Yet life brings people together
As a whole
No indivisuals

But we believe lies
Because they are hidden
And we believe in truth because it is shown
We believe in life,
And life is what we see

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece, first of all because of school and for a grade, but also to connect to life itself. I thought this poem really brought out what I MYSELF think on some of these topics, and what I see. I made this off of a painting called Luncheon The Boating Party, and I really liked what I did with this poem.

I love how this poem expresses the idea that things are not always what they appear to be.
