Family
Cousins, Uncles, and Aunts
This is what I see as I get to my grandparents
All different shapes and sizes
All so different, yet the same
It is the 4th of July
Happiness explodes as we arrive
Much like the fireworks later that night
Then comes the grillin’
My grandfather starts up the grill
And I could smell the chicken cooking
Just as I couldn’t bear it any longer
My grandmother yells “Time to eat!”
After the delicious lunch
My grandfather yells “Let the games begin!”
And if you are ever around my family, and hear those words
You better run
Cuz’ I have two words for ya
Overly competitive
That’s right, you heard me
It’s crazy
Once Wiffle Ball starts
My family is split in two
It’s like the red sox are playin’ the Yankees
Not Pretty!
Once the “Civil War” is over
We come together again
All so different, yet the same
